To raise awareness of the importance of education, equality and rights
Because access to education is a necessity.

Nhịp Cầu Hạnh Phúc
Together with Bông Sen, we are working to break the cycle of poverty, where girls are forced to work early to support their families and education is de-prioritized. With the help of local stakeholders, we are addressing these obstacles faced by schoolgirls.
The situation.
In rural areas of Hau Giang Province, fewer and fewer students are returning to school after the summer holidays. The province is one of the poorest areas in Vietnam's Mekong Delta. Impoverished families struggle to make ends meet, making educational achievement a lower priority. While financial barriers may seem gender-neutral, girls face additional challenges due to entrenched gender norms. Traditionally, education is considered more important for boys, while girls are expected to help with housework and childcare. As a result, dropout rates are disproportionately high among girls. Poverty, discrimination, and lack of education are intertwined phenomena; lack of education impedes the path out of poverty, while poverty, in turn, hinders access to education and leads to the self-fulfillment of outdated gender roles.

The Plan.
Scholarships are designed to ease the financial burden, and workshops are designed to raise awareness of the importance of education, equality, and rights.
Our main goal is to ensure that at least 80% of scholarship recipients remain in school until the end of the project.
The implementation.
In collaboration with our partners, we established contact with ministries of general and vocational education and school principals. This resulted in scholarships being awarded to 20 girls to help with school costs. In addition, our partner Bông Sen organizes educational workshops to highlight key aspects of education.
